Meet the team
Our dental team - we have four dental surgeons, including an implant specialist, a dental therapist and two hygienists who support the dental surgeons to provide you with the highest standard of dental care.
Our qualified nurses are registered as Dental Care Professionals with personal indemnity insurance with the General Dental Council. Our trainee nurses are enlisted on a study course working towards their qualification and National Certificate in Dental Nursing.

Mr J G McKeon LDS RCSI Principal Dental Surgeon and practice owner
Qualified in 1969 at The Royal College of Surgeons, Dublin, completed a primary fellowship and was registrar in oral surgery at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London in 1977-1978, and worked within the NHS until 1998. Since becoming a member of Practice Plan, Mr McKeon has registered his existing patients onto our Dental Care Plan.
Mr McKeon has recently invested in CEREC® Technology. This allows the scanning, design and completion of crowns, inlays and veneers in single appointment visits. This has revolutionised dentistry with limitless possibilities.
Miss A Qayum BDS LDS RCS (Eng) Associate Dental Surgeon
Miss Qayum qualified in 1994 from The Royal College of Surgeons, England and The Royal London Dental School. She has practiced at Friars Walk Dental Practice since 1996. Also a member of Practice Plan, Miss Qayum has recently complemented her skills by training in facial aesthetics and skin rejuvenation, infil gel (Restylane) and muscle inhibitors (Dysport). She is currently furthering this with advanced training in facial aesthetics.
Mr N Shah BDS Associate Dental Surgeon
Mr N Shah qualified in 1997, Bristol. He has been with the practice since 2003. As a member of Practice Plan he is at present working two full days at Friars Walk Dental Practice and often extends his working day to accommodate late evening appointments. He has a keen interest in all aspects of general dentistry and has a special interest in treating anxious patients.
Miss S McKeon BDS (Lond), FDS RCS (Eng), MSc (Lond) Implantology, M.ClinDent (Lond), Prosthodontics, MRD RCS (Eng) Specialist in Oral Surgery, Specialist in Prosthodontics
Miss McKeon qualified in 1992 from King's College, London. After four years of surgical experience she obtained her fellowship from The Royal College of Surgeons. She is officially registered as a specialist in oral surgery with the General Dental Council.
Having a keen interest in implant surgery, in 1998 Miss McKeon held a full-time residence post at the world renowned Eastman Dental Institute, where she obtained a masters degree in surgical and restorative implant dentistry. After a further three years she achieved a prosthodontics specialist qualification, including her membership in restorative dentistry of The Royal College of Surgeons. She started her implant clinic in 1998 in Bedfordshire which is continuing to be very successful.

Two Receptionists - trained and experienced in all aspects of customer service and patient care. Our friendly reception staff will be happy to answer any of your general questions.
Practice management team - our experienced and qualified team work together coordinating and managing all aspects of the practice, from patient care to finance and marketing. They are available to answer any of your relevant questions regarding practice policies.
Registered Nurses - all our qualified nurses have the NEBDN Certificate in Dental Nursing and are all GDC registered. They work continuously to update their skills and knowledge according to the GDC requirements for continued professional development.

Registered patients have access to after-hours emergency treatment via our dedicated Vodafone call desk. Emergency treatment and dental trauma protection is automatically included in our patient care plan insurance policy.

The practice is situated in a residential area in the town centre, just off the A5, and has a large car park and wheelchair access at the rear. See and print map
